Dear Reader, We’ve encouraged each other to live a purposeful existence and THRIVE. We’ve journeyed through life together. That has been the essence of Ubuntu Courtyard. Indeed, we’ve achieved in some areas, made mistakes and turned our tears into purpose. But as we become older, and the gift of years keep rolling by, we are learning that when all has been said and done, health is wealth. That real prosperity lies in how healthy we are, and our minds have the power to make or break us. And so, restoring, maintaining or building a healthy body starts with transformation of the mind. And we're here for all of that! It's all about sharing insights and practical knowledge so that we can all thrive. As the Ubuntu Courtyard founder, I am not showing up as a certified expert, but as a writer, learner and observer inspired by real-life changes that ALL women go through; from puberty, perimenopause and menopause.
I am healthy, love reading and learning new things. But one day, without a warning, I woke up experiencing strange symptoms that I couldn’t articulately describe and pin-point. I was all over the place. For months, I felt lost, afraid and worried as things I'd never dealt with before started to happen on a regular basis. We're talking weight gain, hair loss, heavy periods, never - ending stress and more. At one point, I prayed; seeking clarity and answers after feeling a wave of anxiety build up inside of me while sitting in a relaxed state. Asked for wisdom to know what to do and promised to help others too if I felt better. Finally, it clicked! I was going through PERIMENOPAUSE. The process can take years, and many women start experiencing symptoms from late 30s till early 50s. How long perimenopause lasts depends on an individual basis, but it has been reported by others that this transition to menopause can last for over a decade. When a woman goes for 12 straight months without having a period, it then marks the beginning of another chapter: menopause. This is a natural process that happens to every woman, but it can be brutal. Soon enough, I started opening my eyes about what was potentially going on, as well as what to do about it. One year later, I am starting a dedicated page and podcasts dubbed UBUNTU COURTYARD WELLNESS. An e-book containing detailed information about the things I’ve tried so far (and helped) will be published soon. It took a lot of reading, research, triangulating findings through personal experimentation as well as talking to others who were going through similar experiences. What I’ve learnt inspired me to go on a wellness journey, address some of these issues head on and help others in the process. I strongly advise that you work with your medical practitioner as the information shared here is not intended to replace medical intervention whenever it's required. Initially, I thought I’d tackle mainly health and beauty topics, but after talking to other women from different backgrounds, I became aware that there is a need to share knowledge and information to forgotten communities as well. A few people asked me to include men in some of our conversations, because some of the issues that women face, either long before perimenopause or after menopause are correlated to how some men believe to the true. And so, there will be Shona Podcasts which also seek to raise awareness to some marginalised communities. Still, English Podcasts will mainly address universal topics to help us navigate these transitional years together. From wellness to health, beauty tips and more, we’ve got so much to cover and look forward to! Informative. Fun. Inspirational stuff. We can’t afford to be mere observers. The more we practice what we preach or become aware of, the better we become. New podcasts will be released soon. Please subscribe to Ubuntu Courtyard Podcasts on YouTube so you don’t miss out then the podcasts start rolling. Brand new links for Spotify and Apple Podcasts will be updated soon. Please be on the lookout for Diary Entries on this page as I also share raw experiences and lessons leant, because we learn best by doing and even making mistakes sometimes. Our social media pages – see links at the bottom of the page – will start delivering again soon. We’ve been on a hiatus as we figured out the next steps. Let’s be friends! And as others say - sharing is caring. I’m sure you know one, two or a few other people who will benefit from interactions with us. Let them know about Ubuntu Courtyard too. I am looking forward to this brand-new adventure as we thrive together! Thanks for reading. Fortune Ma-one: Founder @ Ubuntu Courtyard Comments are closed.

Renewal Starts HereMany times, people wrongly think that the 30s, 40s, 50s and years above are synonymous with pain and decline. ArchivesCategories |
