Day 17: 30-Day Gratitude Challenge

5/5/2019

King of My Heart

Sunday was brilliant. I’m thankful for a lovely day I had, hope you too had a great one. Went to church, the preacher shared a message about knowing who God is, and what he is capable of doing in our lives.
We often talk to God but refuse to listen to him, especially when faced with choices that don’t make sense. We sometimes choose to use past experiences as a measuring yardstick of who God is. We were also encouraged to exercise faith not just in our own lives, but in other people’s lives as well.  How many of us are genuinely praying for others and believe that their lives can be turned around for God’s glory?

How many people have said prayers for others that they don’t really mean or believe in? We often pray for others so that they can feel better, but if we ourselves had faith in God’s capabilities on behalf of others, we’d move mountains. In my previous writings, I have touched on the power of words, and how we ought to rise above words spoken against us, our dreams, our visions, and our destinies. Remember Ten Best Life Lessons from the Greatest Showman, and how Charity’s father never spoke a word of blessing to his son-in-law? He rejected him from the word go, because he was just a poor boy. Charity's father never changed his narrative, even at the height of Barnum success, and maintaned that he’d always be, “a tailor’s boy!” Imagine if Barnum had succumbed to what others thought of him, he'd never been a success story.

Today, I am opening my eyes to the fact that some of the people with whom we share our deepest desires can sabotage us because they don’t share the same level of faith that we have, even if they’re praying with us. I am grateful that despite this, God will always be good, and remains seated on the throne. He is good like that, and can use what was meant for harm to elevate you to the top. You and I need to trust in him, more than we trust other humans, including our own understanding. May I take this opportunity to encourage you to listen to King of My Heart just so you can get a refreshing idea of how good God is, whatever mountains you may need to climb.

“Let the King of my heart
Be the mountain where I run
The fountain I drink from
Oh, He is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the shadow where I hide
The ransom for my life
Oh, He is my song

And let the King of my heart
Be the wind inside my sails
The anchor in the waves
Oh oh, He is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the fire inside my veins
The echo of my days
Oh oh, He is my song…”

Deeply encouraged to know that whatever I may go through, HE will never let me down. It's not just a promise, its something I've experienced in my life. I declare in faith that the Lord’s will be done on earth as it is heaven. I am thankful for the people who choose to believe in me, and continue to exercise faith on my behalf. They don’t just pray from a distance and wish me luck, they take action. They may not have all the answers and might have concerns, but that never stops them from helping me overcome some of the challenges that hold me back.

I am truly grateful.

I hope you too can take a moment to be thankful for all the people who have given you chances, and those who believe in you and continue to uphold you. While others are busy digging the dirt about you, they focus on finding the gold within you. May we take a moment to bless them, for, without these souls in our lives, most of us would fade into obscurity.
